Barbara has over 35+ years in employee benefits insurance, as a strategic and tactical consultant that has collaborated with over 100 employer groups to build long-term employee benefits plans through Self-Funding or Fully Insured solutions. She also serves as the primary contact with all the stakeholders and decision makers for all employee benefits. As an Employee Benefits Advisor & Risk Manager at Alera Group, Inc., for the past 7 years, Barbara collaborates with business owners and HR leaders to attract top tier talent, communicate the value of their employee benefits, and build high performing healthcare solutions. Her goal is to change the way companies view employee benefits: from producing a predefined set of outcomes that they cannot control to seeing that they can actually dictate those outcomes to build a healthy culture.
In her free time, Barbara has volunteered as the Board Chair for New Directions for Women Foundation to help provide addiction treatment for women, children and their families and continues to serve on the board. She also loves hiking, kayaking, and recharging in the great outdoors with her husband Kurt and Jack Russell Terrier Owen.
